Not long ago, we shared the stories of our ancestors with our children seated around an open fire. This was how we communicated our values, our culture, and the meaning of our lives across generations. This ancient art of personal storytelling is all but lost from contemporary society. Instead of an evolving story passed from one generation to the next, the precious experiences and wisdom we spend our lives accumulating largely disappear with us. The impacts of this are devastating: People now long for connection and purpose in a society increasingly perceived as devoid of meaning.
We believe the time for change is at hand. Humanity needs to be inspired by and re-connected to the human narrative. 5,000 years ago, the first library was established in Sumer, Mesopotamia, consisting of script on clay tablets. Other iterations followed, such as the Great Library of Alexandria in Egypt.
With these structures, communities grew and an eco-system was born with the role of capturing, safeguarding, and sharing the knowledge of the Ancient World, passing it from one generation to the next. Our world has been forever changed by these advancements, and history has taken on a greater meaning. We hope to create a similar community and eco-system dedicated to the preservation of human wisdom.
Elysium exists to capture, safeguard and share each of our personal stories and the collective wisdom of humanity for generations to come. It is where the wisdom of the past can live to inspire us and rise to meet the needs of the present. The creation of a complete biography is mainly reserved for an elite few; most of us don’t have the opportunity to document our life stories in detail or entirety. Elysium aims to make this process more accessible to all knowing the value of each voice and every story.
Our Storytelling Utility consists of a suite of online autobiographical tools coupled with various real-world services. AI-enabled collaborative tools nudge users to record their stories, automatically transcribe and metatag all content, and weave various content together into a compelling narrative. For the less technolgocially-inclined or those who desire a more personalized approach, we offer services such as analogue media digitization and biographers-for-hire.
