Isabel Ramalhete Fereira / Brand Identity
The number one question I hear writers ask is this: “Do I really need to care about marketing?” Or, “Why should I worry about self-promotion?”
No a days the work of a writer just need some help in order to stand on its own. Some writers might get lucky (which is rare) and go along without it. But if you’re like most writers who make it, you’ll have to hustle. And branding might be part of the process.
For some reason, a lot of creative people push back on the idea that they need a brand. It feels gimmicky and non-artistic. But the truth is they already have a brand; they just need to do something with it.
A brand is exactly what it sounds like. It’s an impression you leave on a customer or reader; it’s a mental imprint. We all have them. For this project the intention was to generate a rich and sophisticated identity while remaining bold and inventive, eschewing the cold, homogenous approach adopted by many publishers.
