Since it opened in 1912 the 136-room Hotel Maria Cristina (by architect Charles Mewes, responsible for the Ritz in Paris) resulted in it becoming the favored accommodation for international high society. Over 50 years, with the inauguration of the San Sebastian Film Festival in 1953, the hotel has been attracting big names - screen stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Woody Allen, Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, etc.

For its 100th years celebration I was asked to made the design of an environmental installation for this unic historic Ball. Presented by Starwoods Hotels Group, The Ball was one of the film and fashion community’s biggest events as it was hosted in such a historical site.

Under the Starwwod brand line “Luxury Collection,” and thanks to its historic relation with local designer Balenciaga, the event became a center of creative exchange and the party a place of interaction for the fashion and film industry.

For the installation, a fashion show and installation featuring pieces from the Balenciaga museum, set the central space while we created a communal dinner table, within the reach of partygoers, adding a culinary experience to the glittering atmosphere.

We created the graphic identity, advertisign campaign, visuals, short films, invitations and programs for the Ball, which featured motifs inspired by Balenciaga original creations.
